My Oola Story: Becoming an Oola Coach

My Oola Story: Becoming an Oola Coach

It’s July 7th, International Oola Day. Last year on Oola’s 7th anniversary, Dr. Dave and Dr Troy introduced the Certified Oola Life Coaching program.

Years before, I dreamed of becoming a life coach, but fear crept in.

“I can’t be a coach, who would want to hear what I have to say?”

“Besides, my life is a mess. I can barely help myself. Who would listen to me?”

The mess I saw included:

  • Debt accumulated since my late teens

  • Many jobs that weren’t fulfilling for me

  • Desire to help people through coaching, but stopped by the fear of ‘not being good enough’

However, the voice inside my head could not be hushed. An opportunity came at work to take on a mentoring role in September 2013. Rather than ignoring the little voice, it added fuel to the flame!

Then, in June 2014, the voice grew louder. I wanted to be a coach! So I purchased a women’s gym franchise, resigned from my full time, six figure income, and became a women’s health and nutrition coach.

My dream came true. I was coaching and making a difference. Everything was great, but I still felt something was missing.

The women I coached through weight loss, and taught about nutrition, were crazy in debt. And some of their marriages were falling apart. I wanted to do more to help them. I didn’t know where to start.

Then, in 2016, my hubby lost his job. This meant I needed to go back to full time work. I found a manager for the gym and said goodbye to the coaching role I loved.

Fortunately, I went straight back into mentoring industry professionals. I was happy to be back mentoring. My confidence grew when I was featured in a national magazine for my mentoring work.

I was on the right track. I knew I was making a difference. I was a coach. I had something worth saying. I helped people find their best self. It wasn’t about me. It was about them.

It was during this time, as I reached out for a healthier life, I connected with an essential oil company. Through that association I was introduced to Oola. I knew this was what had been missing. It wasn’t just Fitness. Oola also taught about balancing Finance, Family, Field (Career), Faith, Friends and Fun.

I started applying their principles to my own life. I saw great results. I got my life back on track. Then I started coaching my team through the Oola principles. It worked.

So when the Certified Oola Life Coach program was launched, I knew this was my next step. This was destiny calling.

But fear came back. I heard the familiar voice.

“I can’t be a coach, who would want to hear what I have to say.”

But this time I had an answer.

“You’ve got this girl! Go get it! You are designed for greatness and a purpose. Go share Oola with the world!”

So I did. I became the first Australian Certified Oola Life Coach. I have taken over a hundred people through the Oola framework.

Even now, I face the familiar fear. But I know this purpose is bigger than me. I have a mission: share Oola and help others find more balance and less stress. I may be scared but I do it anyway.

If you have a heart for helping people, don’t let fear stand in the way. If you hear yourself saying:

“I can’t be a coach, who would want to hear what I have to say?”

Just do it. Do it scared, but do it anyway!

Here’s what Oola looks for in a Certified Oola Life Coach:

  1. Know they are perfectly imperfect

  2. Have a heart for helping others

  3. A desire to do work that matters

  4. A desire to build a side-hustle or career as a life coach

  5. Be willing to grow personally and professionally
