The best part about the Oola Dream Tour is the people we meet along our journey. As we travel around on the OolaBus collecting dreams, we have learned that everyone has a story. Every person we meet is uniquely and beautifully made.
One such story we are reminded of in particular is from a gal named Kate. As she started down the path to her OolaLife, she read our book and met us as we collected dreams on the OolaBus in Buffalo, N.Y. She tried to think of the one thing she could change that would improve every area of her life.
We call that thing your OolaOne, and Kate knew hers right away. After smoking for more than 20 years, she had decided to quit for good. Before long, as she enjoyed the benefits of being smoke-free, two of her friends were inspired to quit too.
Her daughter set a goal and crushed it, earning a 4.2 grade-point average in her honors classes. Her son slapped his own Fitness goal on the OolaBus, and after losing 30 lb., he made the soccer and swim teams. Kate’s husband joined her at our 2-day OolaPalooza event in Las Vegas. Together, they set new goals for themselves and eventually ran a 5K, reconnected with their church family and paid off credit-card debt.
Kate’s OolaOne multiplied in ways she couldn’t have imagined. She not only boosted her seven key areas of life–fitness, finance, family, field, faith, friends and fun–but built a legacy for all those around her to follow.
The trickle effect of accomplishing your OolaOne creates a culture of success within us and around us. Here's how you can inspire change in those around you:
- Encourage those around you to dream big. Focus on life’s possibilities instead of shutting them down with probabilities. Let those around you know you are standing by their side in support. Unconditionally love them for who they are, but push them to be the best version of themselves.
- Help them take action and follow up their OolaPlan with a walk down the OolaPath. After your friends write down their dreams, help them research what it will take to achieve them. Come up with a S.M.A.R.T. goal-setting approach by helping them set goals that are Specific, Measurable, Accountable, Realistic and linked to Time. In time, their dreams might change. But you’ve given them the confidence and tools to succeed wherever their OolaPath might lead them.
- Set an example. As Kate found out, your own journey to an OolaLife can be a powerful motivator to those around you. Although Oolablockers such as fear and self-sabotage will tell you otherwise, you are living proof of what is possible if you simply believe and take action.
